L.A. has food trucks like any major city.  I think you can identify what city you’re in by the type of food street meat vendors serve.  Here in Los Angeles we’re all about our tacos, Korean-Mexican food hybrids, shaved ice and bacon-wrapped dogs.
New York has tons of street carts serving ice cream, roasted nuts, hot dogs, and the trucks are serving foods I couldn’t imagine they were capable of.  Such as dumplings, cupcakes, and BELGIAN WAFFLES.
I found this truck parked on Hudson between King and Houston.  An area known as Tribeca (I believe).  The name of the food truck is Wafels & Dinges.  I ordered a Brussels wafel and topped it with strawberries, bananas, powdered sugar, and a “spekuloos spread”, which was described to me as tasting like graham cracker.  It was just what I needed after being lost all morning.
The guy on the left had been to California before.  We talked about In-N-Out.  I told him about the secret menu.  I think he had tried “animal style”, but no one ever knows about the root beer floats, neapolitan shakes, or protein style burgers.

Oh boy. You REALLY need to visit Portland for some real awesome carts.
